project description
WCG performed a verification of proposed wall thickness calculations for thousands of lineal feet of Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) for 12 construction projects across the state of Idaho. WCG used the ASTM F2019-20 X1.1.2 (Modified F1216) design method equations for the design calculations. WCG assessed existing pipe parameters including existing pipe conditions, inside diameter, depth to invert, water table depth, live load, soil density and modulus, and pipe ovality. Based on the existing pipe parameters, CIPP liner parameters were assessed to determine the required structural thickness of the liner. As part of the verification process, a flow comparison was performed to assess the hydraulic capacity of the pipe with the proposed liner accounting for the thickness of the lining and reduction in Mannings ‘n’ value.
This effort was performed for the Mi-Tech Services, Inc. laboratory in Wisconsin. WCG collaborated with the lab on site assumptions, existing pipe assumptions, and project timeline. All analyses were completed within one week of the notice to proceed to minimize construction delays.
