project description

Western Consulting Group provided project management, stakeholder coordination, and engineering design for an 8.75-acre mixed-use facility consisting of 41 townhomes, 2 commercial buildings, and 16 condominiums in Meridian, Idaho. WCG performed several engineering tasks including design of the water system, wastewater collection system, stormwater management using four BMPs (bioretention, permeable pavers, underground seepage beds and stormwater basins), pressure irrigation pump station, gravity irrigation piping, stormwater pollution prevention plan, and site grading.

WCG designed the potable water distribution system according to City of Meridian, ISPWC, and ACHD standards. The design comprised of 1950 linear feet of 8” water main, 775 linear feet of water service, and fire flow evaluation to three hydrants. Multiple challenges and constraints were overcome and optimized related to high groundwater, working within FEMA mapped flood zones, and large irrigation pipeline utility crossings.

To comply with local floodplain ordinances, WCG performed a no-rise analysis and hydraulic modeling to certify that the proposed development will not result in an increase in base flood elevation resulting from a proposed roadway, stormwater facility, and fencing within the regulatory floodway. Following vertical construction, WCG will submit a LOMR-F to remove structures from the floodplain.

WCG designed an irrigation pump station to serve the development including a potable water cross connection to City water for supply redundancy.

Western Consulting Group will provide services during construction including requests for information, pre-construction and construction progress meetings, shop drawing submittals, and site visit special inspections.
